Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has extended its contract with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to continue to manage its Pre-Export Verification of Conformity to Standards Programme (PVoC) for exports to the country.
The programme verifies the conformity of all regulated products in the respective exporting countries within a range of sectors, including: food, chemicals, electricals and electronics, textiles, health and beauty products, machinery, building products and toys.
This ensures they comply with the applicable Kenyan technical regulations and quality standards, assuring Kenya’s citizens of the quality and reliability of imported goods. Intertek has been supporting the programme since its inception in 2005.
Thomas Kordick, Global Business Line Leader, Government and Trade Services, Intertek said: “We are delighted to continue to work with KEBS in supporting them with the ongoing success of the PVoC, giving Kenya’s consumers the Assurance they need when buying imported goods and protecting them from sub-standard products. Having introduced the very first Conformity Assessment Programme in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia more than 20 years ago, Intertek has the experience and expertise to provide KEBS, and exporters to Kenya, with a rapid and excellent service.”
Exporters to Kenya are required to provide a Certificate of Conformity for Customs clearance in accordance with Government regulation. This certificate can only be obtained from an Approved Inspection Body such as Intertek.
Intertek are the pioneers of PVoC programmes having introduced the very first one over 20 years ago and with our network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices and over 42,000 people in more than 100 countries, delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customers’ operations and supply chains.
