Aliyu Abubakar-Khalid: No plans to Islamise Nigeria

Allegations that plans are being made to Islamise Nigeria have been rejected by Muslim group, Jama’atu Nasir Islam.

The claim was made by some retired Generals and members of the National Christian Elders’ Forum (NCEF). According to reports, the Muslim body which is headed by the Sultan, described the claim as unfortunate, especially coming from a respected elder like T.Y Danjuma and others in the Christian community.

The group’s position was made known on Sunday, July 16, in Kaduna, by the national secretary, Dr. Aliyu Abubakar-Khalid, in a chat with newsmen.

According to Abubakar-Khalid, T.Y Danjuma and co had chosen to dwell on “what does not exist”, instead of focusing on the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra and other related problems which are capable of dividing Nigeria.

He stated: “It is unfortunate for elders to behave this way.

“Are there any Christians in this country that have been asked to denounce their faith?

“This is a mere gimmick and a trick in order to bury the ‘genocidal’ killing of defenseless Muslims and they are talking about Nigeria drifting towards Islamization and Sharia.”
