Imo gets tough on criminals: Parade 36 suspects

THE Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Chris Ezike, has warned that his command would make the state hot for criminals if they did not stop their involvement in crime.

Ezike said this at the state police command on Tuesday when he paraded 36 suspected criminals involved in various crimes in the state.

Addressing newsmen about their arrest, Imo state Commissioner of Police Mr Ezike said that on March, 2017 Mrs Amaka Okere aged 45 of Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA was kidnapped and murdered.

According to him while investigation is in progress, Emeka Adibie and Monica Adibie were arrested on June 15, 2017 in Rivers State and victim’s telephone handset recovered from the suspects.

The commissioner explained that on May 21, 2017 at Umuomi Agwa in Oguta one Ndubuisi Ugo aka “fish” was arrested on a tip off for complicity in the armed robbery and kidnapping of Mrs Gloria Favour.

During the police interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, revealed himself and his gang collected a ransom of N7.5 million in which he got N1 million as his share and cash of N200,000 was recovered from him.

Similarly, he explained that one Benneth Ema aged 39 was also arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a cement dealer in March, 2017, adding that the suspect confessed to the crimes, revealed that himself and his gang collected N900,000 as ransom which he received a share of N75,000.

On June, 2017 at about 2100 hrs the commissioners, explained that one Bright Nwankwo aged 25 and Ezeama Kenneth aged 24 years both claimed to be students of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede robbed one Mirian Diala Kelechi also a student of her blackberry telephone hand set at gun point.
